Sol Levenson was Robin's mentor, teacher, and good friend from their days as student and instructor at the Quincy Vocational School, over thirty years ago.

Sol was perhaps the last surviving artist from the depression-era WPA public employment program. Until his death in 2006, Sol continued to paint and remarkably was the recipient of three Fullbright Fellowships in recent years, using them to teach mural painting in Columbia and at The University of Vera Cruz in Veracruz, Mexico.
